  1. What personal information do we collect?

    • Identity information: Name, address, phone number, email address.
    • Government identification: We collect government-issued identification in person at ourMelbourne facility when you sell or pawn a device, as required by second‑hand dealer legislation.
    • Device information: IMEI numbers, serial numbers, device condition, repair history.
    • Transaction information: Payment details, purchase history, warranty claims, return records.
    • Online information: IP address, browser type, website usage data, cookies.
    • CCTV footage: If you visit our Melbourne facility, CCTV is in operation for security and safety purposes.
  2. How do we collect your personal information?

    • Directly from you: When you make a purchase, submit a warranty claim, request a return, contact customer support, or sign up for marketing.
    • In‑person collection: When you visit our Melbourne facility (e.g., selling or pawning goods).
    • Online: Through our website, when you place an order, use interactive tools, or interact with us via cookies and tracking technologies.
    • From third parties: Payment processors, delivery carriers, and law enforcement where required by law.
  3. Why do we collect your personal information?

    • To process your purchases, returns, warranty claims, and repairs.
    • To comply with second‑hand dealer legal obligations (including identity verification and record‑keeping).
    • To communicate with you about your order, warranty, or claim.

  4. How do we store and protect your personal information?

    • Access restrictions – only staff who need your information to perform their duties.
    • Secure destruction or de‑identification when no longer needed.
  5. Do we disclose your personal information to overseas recipients?

    We may disclose your personal information to overseas recipients in limited circumstances, such as cloud storage providers or payment processors with servers outside Australia. When we do, we take reasonable steps to ensure the overseas recipient complies with the Australian Privacy Principles.

  6. Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme

    If we suspect a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will conduct a prompt assessment and notify the OAIC and affected individuals as required under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act.

    We do not currently use automated decision‑making systems that significantly affect individuals. If this changes, we will update this policy as required by law from 10 December 2026.

    You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and request corrections if it is inaccurate, incomplete, or out‑of‑date. To do so, email hello@mobileguru.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe (usually 30 days). A small administrative fee may apply for access requests.

    If you believe we have breached the Privacy Act, please contact us first. We will investigate and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
